Gibson SG-II - Vintage 1973
Yowza, this Very Good vintage condition Gibson SG-II from 1973-ish is an absolute treat. These odd-ball entry-level USA Gibson's from the 70s are pretty darn cool, and this one is no exception. This one appears to be all-original aside from the wraparound bridge which is a newer lightning bridge with non-adjustable intonation. The pickups sound great, albeit a bit squeal-y at super high gain settings. Plays nice with low action and good neck relief. Currently has 9s on it and plays super slinky. Truss rod works as it should and the nut is not chewed up. The frets are low but generally level - likely one fret dress left in it. No breaks or repairs, and really, no crazy blemishes outside of what you'd expect for a 50+ year old guitar. Two bigger dings on the top near the bridge, but mostly smaller dings throughout the rest. Nice finish checking in the Nitro and pretty grain on what is likely a Maple body. Very bright guitar, but not obnoxious. The slider switches work for turning the pickups on and off with only slight crackles on occasion. Most of the chrome parts do show oxidation and some rust, but again, nothing out of the ordinary. No case or gigbag, but will be packed tight and fully insured if shipping!
